CLINTON, Iowa (TCD) -- A 53-year-old man faces sexual abuse charges after allegedly sexually abusing underage family members in Iowa and Missouri.
According to the affidavit obtained by the Sioux City Journal, an investigation was launched on March 24, 2021, after the Clinton Police Department was alerted that Richard Clark allegedly sexually abused three children.
Authorities reportedly learned Clark abused one victim from 1998 through 2004, starting when she was 10 years old. The abuse allegedly stopped when she turned 16.
Clark reportedly abused the second victim, also starting when she was 10, and it continued from 2000 through 2006. When the second victim was 17, the Sioux City Journal reports she gave birth to a child, and genetic tests determined Clark to be the father.
Clark allegedly abused the third victim from 2002 through 2006, starting when she was 11 years old. The third victim also gave birth to Clark’s child at age 16 in 2007, the Sioux City Journal reports.
Clark was arrested May 13 and booked into the Clinton County Jail on three counts of second-degree sexual abuse and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, records show. He remains held on $50,000 bond.
According to KWQC-TV, the second-degree sexual abuse charges are punishable by 25 years in prison, and the third-degree sexual abuse charges are punishable by 10 years in prison.
