HARRISBURG, Pa. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old substitute teacher and track coach stands accused of providing minors with alcohol and taking explicit videos and photos of students during a party.
According to a news release from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Peyton Harris, who worked as a substitute teacher at Juniata High School and Newport High School and served as the assistant manager for the Juniata track team during the 2021-2022 school year, hosted a party at his home for minors.
Harris allegedly provided alcohol to the minors and took explicit photographs and videos of those juveniles engaging in sexual activity without their knowledge or consent. He then reportedly shared the images with other people on social media.
On June 22, the Attorney General’s Office said Harris was charged with sexual abuse of children — photographing, sexual abuse of children — dissemination, sexual abuse of children — child pornography, invasion of privacy, corruption of minors, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and carrying a false identification card.
In a statement, Attorney General Josh Shapiro said, "Mr. Harris was trusted to take care of and empower minors, and instead he exploited them."
Shapiro added, "These charges are very disturbing. My office has a zero tolerance policy for abuse of children, and will prosecute the defendant to the fullest extent of the law."
The Attorney General’s Office has asked for the public’s help in gathering any information regarding the case or any other incidents related to Harris.
