BRADENTON, Fla. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old man stands accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend’s 67-year-old father following a series of domestic arguments.
According to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, July 23, at approximately 2:25 p.m., deputies responded to 5404 12th Avenue Drive W. in Bradenton to a report of a shooting. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the body of a 67-year-old man in the front yard suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon further investigation, the victim’s wife and daughter told authorities they were in the house when they heard gunshots coming from the driveway, the Sheriff’s Office said. They reportedly ran outside and found the victim in the yard, and next to him was the daughter’s boyfriend, Charles Shadrach. Shadrach was allegedly holding a gun and put it by the front door.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Shadrach told his girlfriend, "He won’t be bothering you anymore."
The Sheriff’s Office said investigators learned that the victim, his daughter, and Shadrach, who all live in the same home, had gotten into a series of domestic arguments prior to the shooting.
Shadrach reportedly surrendered himself to a responding deputy and was charged with second-degree murder.
