Ex-NFL player’s brother accused of fatally shooting youth football coach during game

LANCASTER, Texas (TCD) -- Former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib’s brother reportedly surrendered to police after allegedly shooting a youth football coach during a game.
According to WFAA-TV, on Saturday, Aug. 13, at about 8:50 p.m., Yaqub Talib, Aquib Talib’s sibling, got into an argument with football coach Mike Hickmon, 43, at the Lancaster Community Park at 1749 Jefferson St. Hickmon reportedly went to pick up a football and someone kicked it away, and that led to the dispute, which escalated into the shooting.
The coaches allegedly got into a physical altercation, and Hickman was shot. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, WFAA reports.
Hickmon’s 9-year-old son was reportedly on the field during the incident.
According to KDFW-TV, Hickmon was the youth football coach for the Dragon’s Elite Academy. There were reportedly 50 people at the game who witnessed the shooting.
Talib turned himself into authorities and was booked into Dallas County Jail on Monday, Aug. 15, records show. He was reportedly charged with murder and probation violation –– assault causing bodily injury.
