Virginia man turns himself in after allegedly fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and stabbing her friend

SUFFOLK, Va. (TCD) -- A 31-year-old man turned himself in recently after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend to death after she returned home from a night out with friends.
According to a news release from the Suffolk Police Department, on Aug. 28 at approximately 4:39 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway to a report of shots fired. At the scene, authorities reportedly found an adult female, Delyna Hall, who had been shot.
Police said Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, John Harris turned himself in on Aug. 30 in connection with the fatal shooting. Suffolk Police Chief Al Chandler told WVEC-TV Hall went out Saturday, Aug. 27, to spend time with friends, and she came home Sunday, Aug. 28, with a friend. Hall was met by Harris, her ex-boyfriend, who had snuck into her home, and he allegedly shot Hall after a quick confrontation.
Harris also reportedly stabbed Hall’s friend, who survived.
Police said Harris was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, armed burglary, malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and maliciously shoot/stab with intent to kill.
