Teen who allegedly livestreamed shooting rampage in Memphis that killed 4 is in custody

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 19-year-old suspect is in custody after allegedly going on an hours-long shooting spree he streamed on Facebook, killing at least four and injuring three.
According to a press conference from the Memphis Police Department, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at approximately 12:56 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 3100 block of Lyndale. The male victim at the scene was reportedly deceased on the driveway.
The suspect was identified as Ezekiel Kelly, police said.
At around 4:38 p.m., officers reportedly responded to a shooting on South Parkway East, where a man was found shot dead in a vehicle at a gas station. Surveillance video showed a man in a gray vehicle pulling up next to the victim’s car and firing shots, WREG-TV reports.
According to police, at around 4:40 p.m. on the same day, officers responded to a shooting on Norris Road near I-240, where they found a female victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. She was reportedly transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Kelly allegedly fled the scene in a dark sedan.
Police said in their press conference that another shooting took place in the 4000 block of Jackson Avenue. Kelly allegedly walked into an AutoZone store and shot a man while live-streaming the incident on Facebook. The male victim was reportedly in critical condition.
Police sent out an alert regarding Kelly after he made threats on social media.
Then, at approximately 7:23 p.m., police said officers responded to a shooting at Poplar Avenue, where a female was fatally shot. Kelly reportedly took the victim's vehicle and fled.
Approximately ten minutes later, Kelly allegedly shot a man nearby.
At around 8:55 p.m., police said Kelly fatally shot another female victim.
Shortly after, Kelly allegedly stole a Dodge Challenger in Southaven, Mississippi, and police pursued him in a high-speed chase that ended in Memphis. Police reportedly surrounded Kelly when he refused to exit the vehicle, and the SWAT Team responded to the scene to assist.
According to police, Kelly was eventually taken into custody.
During the shooting, Rhodes College in Midtown was reportedly sheltered in place, and the University of Memphis sent an alert about the incident. After Kelly's arrest, lockdowns were lifted, WREG reports.
Prior to the alleged shooting spree, Kelly was released from jail on March 16 after serving 11 months of a three-year sentence for aggravated assault.
Currently, Kelly faces charges for first-degree murder, records show. However, police said numerous felony charges are pending.
