MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (TCD) -- Law enforcement officials are searching for a man they believe kidnapped an infant, her parents, and her uncle from a local business.
On Monday, Oct. 3, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office announced the four victims were reportedly "taken against their will" from a business on the 800 block of South Highway 59. The kidnapped individuals reportedly include 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri, her mother, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, her father, 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, and her uncle, 39-year-old Amandeep Singh.
The same day, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of a man they believe is the suspect in the alleged kidnappings. Photos from surveillance footage show a man in a gray hoodie wearing a surgical mask and dark-colored clothing. The Sheriff’s Office said he is considered armed and dangerous.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke released a video asking the public for help in identifying the suspect.
Warnke said, "We have a lowlife out there who kidnapped an 8-month-old baby, her mom, her dad, and her uncle."
Warnke reportedly does not know a motivation for the crime yet and said the suspect has not made any contact or ransom request with officials.
The suspect also allegedly "destroyed evidence in an attempt to cover their tracks."
According to Warnke, detectives are canvassing the areas and aircraft is being used to search for evidence.
He added, "We need your help. We got to bring this family home safely."
