Indiana 5th-grade Catholic school teacher allegedly created 'kill list' of students and staff

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old fifth-grade teacher at a Catholic school was arrested after allegedly creating a list of people she wanted to kill.
According to a news release from the East Chicago Police Department, on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at around 5 p.m., officers responded to St. Stanislaus School on Indianapolis Boulevard to a report of a threat. At the scene, officers learned that a fifth-grade student said a teacher, Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, spoke about killing herself, students, and staff at the school and created a list. She allegedly said the fifth-grade student was on the bottom of that list.
The student initially told school staff, and the teacher was sent to the principal’s office to talk about the incident, according to police. Carrasquillo-Torres allegedly admitted to making a "kill list" and talking about it with the student. The teacher was told to leave and not come back to the school pending an investigation, police said.
An emergency detention order for Carrasquillo-Torres was obtained on Thursday, Oct. 13, and and according to police, she was taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing.
Carrasquillo-Torres was charged with intimidation in a threat to commit a forcible felony, WTHR-TV reports.
According to their website, St. Stanislaus School is a Catholic elementary school that is "dedicated to nurturing" its students to "achieve academic excellence within a safe, faith-filled environment."
