Young boy found in Indiana suitcase is positively identified as mom remains on the run

SELLERSBURG, Ind. (TCD) -- State Police announced they arrested one person and are searching for another in connection with a boy who was found dead in a Las Vegas-themed suitcase earlier this year.

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls spoke at a press conference and announced detectives arrested 40-year-old Dawn Coleman in San Francisco and are still searching for the boy’s mother, Dejaune Anderson. She was reportedly last known to be in Los Angeles, but Indiana State Police were not successful in apprehending her when they traveled there.

Huls also identified the boy as 5-year-old Cairo Jordan. He and his mother were from Atlanta.

On April 16, a mushroom hunter was in a heavily wooded area of Washington County when they reportedly came across the suitcase with Cairo’s body inside.

The boy was described as being 5 to 8 years old, "approximately 4 feet tall and has a slim build and a short haircut."

On May 27, Indiana State Police said the autopsy determined Cairo died from an "electrolyte imbalance," which was likely caused by "a viral gastroenteritis."

According to an Indiana State Police statement, Anderson has a warrant out for her arrest for murder.  Anderson and Coleman both face charges of neglect of a depending resulting in death and obstruction of justice.

WXIN-TV, which cites court documents, reports fingerprints found on trash bags inside the suitcase helped link Anderson and Coleman to the scene.

Anderson allegedly shared concerning messages on Facebook about her son. Police reportedly said Anderson wrote about spells and how she needed to exorcise "a very powerful demonic force from within my son."

She reportedly wrote on March 15, "Stop getting caught up in the vessels of this realm. You guys get caught up with how old the body is, if they adult and kids, etc. Don’t even know it’s a full-grown demon in the child body telling you what to do because you didn’t choose your soul. Better start using your 3rd eye."
