DELPHI, Ind. (TCD) -- Indiana State Police have allegedly arrested a suspect in connection with the deaths of teens Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, who were killed in February 2017.
WXIN-TV reports they received confirmation from "multiple sources" that 50-year-old Richard Allen was taken into custody and booked into the Carroll County Jail but was then transferred to an unnamed state facility for safety reasons.
WTHR-TV, which also reportedly had law enforcement sources confirm the arrest, reports the Indiana State Police plan a news conference for Monday, Oct. 31.
On Friday, Oct. 28, Libby German’s sister, Kelsi, tweeted, "Just know how grateful I am for all of you. No comments for now, any questions please refer to the Carroll county prosecutors office. There is tentatively a press conference Monday at 10am. We will say more then."
She also wrote, "Today is the day."
In a subsequent tweet, Kelsi German noted, "Nothing is confirmed at this time."
Rafael Sánchez, a reporter at WRTV-TV, recorded a video on Twitter and said he received word from law enforcement sources that Allen had a court hearing in Delphi on Friday. Allen reportedly is from Delphi and matches the description of a man police were looking for.
Williams and German were last seen Feb. 13, 2017, when they were dropped off near the Monon High Bridge to "walk around and hang out." They reportedly did not show up when it came time to be picked up, and they were found dead the next day in a wooded area near the Delphi Historic Trail.
German reportedly captured a video on her cellphone of the suspect, along with an audio recording where a man’s voice can be heard saying, "Down the hill."
