GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (TCD) -- A 21-year-old man was arrested after the bodies of a 22-year-old woman and her newborn son were reportedly found inside a home earlier this week.
According to WHNS-TV, on the night of Wednesday, Nov. 9, Greenville County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home to a report of a missing woman. At the scene, authorities reportedly found Clarissa Michelle Winchester deceased along with the infant.
Winchester died from blunt force trauma to her head and neck, WYFF-TV reports.
Upon further investigation, Tyler Wilkins, the father of the newborn baby, was identified as the suspect, according to WHNS. Wilkins allegedly confined the mother inside a family member’s home, where he assaulted her and caused blunt force trauma to her head and neck. The death was reportedly ruled a homicide.
Wilkins was arrested and charged with child abuse, kidnapping, murder, and child neglect, records show.
According to WHNS, the child abuse charge stems from Wilkins’ failure to seek help for his newborn son after he was born.
Wilkins reportedly has a criminal past, including previous charges for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
