POLAND, Maine (TCD) -- A 34-year-old man who allegedly believed he was "The Terminator" stands accused of killing his oldest brother.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a mobile home on Thursday, Nov. 24. At the scene, they reportedly found the deceased victim.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Justin Butterfield, who lived in the home with the victim, was identified as the primary suspect. After Butterfield was placed into custody, a neighbor told the Sun Journal that the suspect sat on the stairs, speckled with blood, smiling and laughing to himself.
Authorities did not disclose the victim's name, but family friends reportedly said the victim was the suspect's oldest brother. Neighbors also told the Sun Journal that they believe Butterfield suffers from mental illness, and police were often called to Butterfield's home for various disturbances.
The body of Butterfield's brother had allegedly been badly mutilated.
The Sheriff's Office said Butterfield was charged with murder and is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.
Prior to the alleged killing, Butterfield was being investigated for reportedly bursting into his ex-girlfriend's home. According to the Sun Journal, Butterfield and his ex-girlfriend share a son, and she has custody of his daughter.
