LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old former high school teacher and coach is reportedly now married to the student with whom he allegedly had a sexual relationship.
According to a statement, on Sept. 16, the Limestone County Sheriff's Office received information about a "potential inappropriate relationship" between Thomas Blake Tucker and a student. Tucker was reportedly a teacher and coach at East Limestone High School. Officials from the Sheriff's Office began investigating the claims and arrested Tucker on a charge of school employee engaging in sex act with a student under the age of 19.
His bond was set at $30,000.
The News & Courier reports Tucker bonded out and later resigned from his job at the high school.
Now, Tucker and the student are reportedly married.
According to WAAY-TV, Tucker and the teen reportedly wed Nov. 8 even though his bond conditions prohibited contact with her.
Tucker's attorney, Nick Lough, told WAAY, "He has had absolutely no direct communication or contact with his wife, but they are lawfully and legally married, and so, as a defense team, all we can do is file a motion with a court on that issue."
Lough also reportedly filed a motion to change bond conditions so Tucker and his wife will be able to talk.
He said, "We are asking that the judge strike any kind of language with any bond conditions that would limit his ability or his wife’s ability to contact each other and communicate with each other, and that’s really all we're asking at this point for the judge to consider."
