MARSHFIELD, Mass. (TCD) -- A 27-year-old man was recently arrested in Florida after a married couple was reportedly found bludgeoned and stabbed to death in their Massachusetts home.
According to a news release from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, on the night of Tuesday, Nov. 29, Marshfield Police officers responded to a home on Gotham Hill Drive to perform a welfare check. At the scene, police reportedly found the bodies of Carl Mattson and his wife Vicki Mattson, both 70.
The District Attorney’s Office said the victims showed "obvious signs of trauma" and were "bludgeoned and stabbed."
An investigation was launched, and detectives identified Christopher Keeley as a person of interest, the Massachusetts State Police announced.
The District Attorney’s Office said the attack "does not appear to be a random act of violence."
According to WCVB-TV, Keeley was arrested in Miami Beach on Friday, Dec. 2.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz told WCVB that a dog was found dead in the Mattson’s home, and its death is being investigated as well.
Keeley is reportedly scheduled for a hearing in Florida before being extradited back to Massachusetts.
