LOCKSEBURG, Ark. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old father and a 17-year-old mother were arrested and face charges after allegedly dumping their dead newborn son in a dumpster.
According to KTAL-TV, the infant’s body was found on Nov. 7 by Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry. The Sheriff’s Office reportedly received a video of the victim being born inside a mobile home on Provo Road, and when investigators went to the residence, they learned the baby did not live and was disposed of.
The mother and the baby’s father, Matthew Hallmark, were arrested on Nov. 9, KATV-TV reports. They were charged with abuse of corpse, court records show. Authorities did not disclose the mother’s name.
The Arkansas State Crime Lab will reportedly perform an autopsy.
Court records show that the suspects’ bond was set at $50,000. However, they were both reportedly bonded out.
On Dec. 8, KTAL reports that Hallmark pleaded not guilty. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2023.
