KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old alleged abuser remains at large after reportedly stabbing his 34-year-old ex-girlfriend to death in a convenience store earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Kings Mountain Police officers responded to the Silver Express on King Street to a report of a woman who had been assaulted with a knife, the department announced. At the scene, the victim, later identified as Ashley Scoggins by WSOC-TV, was found suffering from stab wounds.
Scoggins was reportedly transported to Kings Mountain Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
According to police, investigators determined that the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Timothy Parson, allegedly assaulted Scoggins inside the store with a knife and left the parking lot in a gray Nissan Sentra with North Carolina license plate JFT-4361.
Police obtained a homicide arrest warrant for Parson, and a search for the suspect ensued.
On Jan. 18, the Kings Mountain Police Department announced that an abandoned vehicle matching the description was found and seized, but Parson was not located.
Scoggins’ grandmother told WSOC that the victim was a mother of two children, and Parson is the father of her youngest child, a 3-year-old girl. She also told the news outlet that Scoggins left Parson and took the kids in 2021 before telling a judge that she was abused.
Scoggins reportedly obtained an order of protection after Parson allegedly grabbed her by the head and threatened to kill her. Then, he reportedly followed her as she drove off and tried to force her off the road.
