BATON ROUGE, La. (TCD) -- Four people, including one juvenile, have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a Louisiana State University student who had alcohol poisoning and was hit by a car.
According to WVLA-TV, on Sunday, Jan. 15, at approximately 3 a.m., 19-year-old Madison Brooks was reportedly standing in the middle of Burbank Drive when she was struck by the vehicle. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died.
The driver who hit Brooks was not arrested, according to WBRZ-TV.
WVLA reports East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested 18-year-old Casen Carver, 18-year-old Kaivon Washington, 27-year-old Everette Lee, and a 17-year-old this week in connection with Brooks' rape. Washington and the juvenile were reportedly charged with third-degree rape, while the other two were charged with principal to third-degree rape.
According to the arrest affidavits shared by WVLA, the four men went to a bar on Bob Petit Boulevard in East Baton Rouge Parish and all drank alcohol. Brooks reportedly walked out of the bar with the four men, even though they had not met before that night. Brooks was reportedly "very unstable on her feet, was not able to keep her balance, and was unable to speak clearly without slurring her words."
Brooks reportedly asked the men for a ride home and said she did not know where her friends were at the time.
Washington and the juvenile reportedly sat in the back seat of the car with Brooks. One of the men reportedly asked Brooks for her address, but she "fell over and could not answer him."
The 17-year-old allegedly asked Brooks five times if she wanted to have sex. The affidavits allege she consented. The two reportedly had sex in the back of the car, and Washington reportedly got out of the car. When the juvenile was done, he exited the vehicle and Washington allegedly re-entered.
Washington allegedly asked Brooks several times to have sex, and she reportedly consented. She and Washington reportedly had sex while Lee and Carver remained in the front seats of the car.
Carver allegedly told Washington, "We got to stop this, let’s go."
Washington and Brooks reportedly put their clothes on, and the men drove Brooks to a subdivision, where she was then hit by the car.
According to the affidavit, the autopsy showed Brooks "had injuries consistent with previous sexual assault anally."
She reportedly had THC in her system and her BAC level was .319%, which is reportedly "listed as alcohol poisoning and loss of consciousness."
WBRZ-TV reports Brooks and the men were at the bar Reggie’s that evening, and regulators have reportedly suspended its liquor license.
