CLEVELAND (TCD) -- A 41-year-old man is being held on $5 million bond after he allegedly shot and killed four family members and critically injured an 8-year-old girl.
According to WJW-TV, on Friday, Jan. 13, at around 7:50 p.m., a man reportedly flagged down Cleveland Police officers to report there were several people shot inside a home on the 3700 block of Mack Court in the city’s Brooklyn Centre neighborhood. Officers reportedly arrived and subsequently called for backup when they discovered five victims inside.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were transported to a hospital, where one more victim died.
Police arrested the suspect, Martin Muniz, on suspicion of homicide.
Cleveland.com reports the victims are Muniz’s father, 69-year-old Miguel Gonzalez, Muniz’s sister, 34-year-old Angelic Gonzalez, his nephew, 16-year-old Jayden Baez, and 48-year-old Anthony Boothe. The 8-year-old girl is reportedly Boothe’s daughter, and she remains hospitalized.
Muniz allegedly shot all the victims in the head in different rooms of the house.
As part of his bond conditions, Muniz is not allowed to have any contact with the 8-year-old.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office indicted Muniz on 25 counts, including four counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, eight counts of murder, 10 counts of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons under disability.
According to Cleveland.com, Muniz’s family members who are still alive reportedly did not attend his court hearing because they "never want to see him again." When he heard that, he allegedly laughed.
