Missouri teen accused of fatally shooting his father at their home

ST. JAMES, Mo. (TCD) -- A 19-year-old was arrested this week after he reportedly shot his father several times, resulting in his death.
In a statement, the Phelps County Sheriff's Department said someone called 911 Monday, Feb. 6, at 8:51 a.m. to report a shooting at a home on the 12000 block of County Road 2220. Deputies arrived at the residence and found 64-year-old Ralph Leon Karlinski Jr. deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators arrested Karlinski's son, Samuel Karlinski, on charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to court documents cited by KOLR-TV, Samuel Karlinski allegedly used a .22 caliber pistol in the fatal encounter. Samuel reportedly told investigators he shot his father in the chest and head out of self-defense. Detectives, however, reportedly found that Ralph Karlinski suffered a gunshot wound to the face.
Investigators also discovered evidence of shots fired into a wall and door.
Karlinski is being held in the Phelps County Jail without bond.
