LITTLE ELM, Texas (TCD) -- Two 17-year-old males were arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a 19-year-old man near a playground.
The Little Elm Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Knight Trail to a report of a shooting on Friday, Feb. 3. The victim, David Pleasant, was reportedly transported to a local hospital and died from his injuries the next day, Saturday, Feb. 4.
Police said they identified the suspects as Alec Adamson and Mason Schiller.
According to newly released court documents obtained by KDFW-TV, the victim went to a playground to purchase marijuana and mushrooms. Surveillance video reportedly revealed that Pleasant ran from a gray Volkswagen, and then the driver of the car got out and shot Pleasant.
According to KDFW, police were able to identify Schiller using an Instagram account that was used to arrange the drug deal, as well as audio captured from surveillance video.
Police reportedly located Schiller’s Volkswagen and then later saw him get into a truck. Police allegedly attempted to stop Schiller in the truck, and the car crashed before two people ran away on foot. They were later taken into custody, KDFW reports.
Adamson was reportedly one of the passengers in the truck.
Schiller and Adamson told authorities they tried to sell drugs to Pleasant, but he started hitting them. Adamson then allegedly shot the victim.
Police said Adamson and Schiller were both arrested and charged with murder on $1 million bond. Records show Schiller was released on Feb. 8, but Adamson remains held.
