SALT LAKE CITY (TCD) -- A 28-year-old "Mormon mom" TikTok star faces charges after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend in front of her two young children and injuring her 5-year-old daughter.
On Friday, Feb. 17, at approximately 11 p.m., the Herriman City Police Department received a report of domestic violence and responded to 4306 W. Rex Peak Way, where they arrested Taylor Frankie Paul.
During an argument, Paul allegedly threw her phone and a children’s toy play set at her boyfriend as he was trying to leave the home, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Additionally, Paul allegedly threw "heavy metal chairs" at her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, and kicked him before placing him in a chokehold, according to Gephardt Daily.
Paul’s young daughter was reportedly hit by a thrown chair and can be heard crying on video footage. Court documents obtained by the Salt Lake Tribune allege the young girl suffered a "goose-egg" injury to her head as a result.
Video footage reportedly showed that Paul’s boyfriend tried to stop her from throwing the chairs due to the children’s presence.
Paul allegedly hit Mortensen as an officer arrived, and he told police he was "scared for his life."
Due to the alleged assault, Mortensen reportedly suffered swelling to his face and elbows, as well as scratches to his hands and neck.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Paul confessed to throwing the chairs and play set, and she faces charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief.
In a statement, Cody Stromberg, deputy chief of police, said, "Ms. Paul’s status as a social media influencer has no bearing or impact on the investigation or outcome of this case."
Stromberg continued, "All allegations of domestic violence are investigated thoroughly and in accordance with state law and established criminal justice best practices to protect victims and ensure accountability."
Paul is set to appear in court on March 21.
