BATON ROUGE, La. (TCD) -- Police located a 45-year-old man they believe has information regarding the disappearance and death of 42-year-old Nathan Millard, whose body was found rolled in a rug several days after he went missing.
On March 10, the Baton Rouge Police Department posted a bulletin that they were trying to locate Derrick Perkins regarding several charges, but also because he was "needed for questioning" for the Millard case. Police shared a photo of Perkins and his car, a 2003 Toyota Camry.
Police found Perkins on May 13 and arrested him on charges of probation violation, criminal damage to property, three counts of access device fraud, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
According to WBRZ-TV, the Camry had reportedly been stolen, and Baton Rouge Police believe Perkins switched out the car’s license plate and made other changes in order to "disguise" it. Police reportedly found the car burned earlier this week.
Perkins reportedly lives about a mile from the lot where Millard’s body was discovered March 6.
WVLA-TV reports Perkins used Millard’s debit card three times following his disappearance.
Millard, who was reportedly in Baton Rouge for a business trip, was last seen on the night of Feb. 23. Surveillance footage showed him leaving a bar at about 10:30 p.m. He ended up at a Greyhound station later that night and a security guard offered to help him, but Millard declined.
Millard’s autopsy showed "no evidence of internal or external trauma," but final results, including his cause and manner of death, were still pending. In a March 7 news conference, Baton Rouge Police said they "don’t have any indication that there was foul play involved," but they are "looking into how he ended up where he was."
