MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old woman was arrested and charged after authorities reportedly learned there were children living in her home alongside a deceased elderly woman and multiple dead animals.
According to a police report reviewed by WMBF-TV, on the night of Thursday, March 16, Horry County Police responded to a home on the 800 block of Highway 814 for a death investigation. Upon their arrival, officers found a naked deceased woman lying in feces on the front porch, WPDE-TV reports.
Authorities did not disclose the deceased victim’s name, and an autopsy will be performed next week, according to WBTW-TV.
During a search of the home, police reportedly noticed the hallway floors to the children’s rooms were covered in garbage and feces, and the entire residence was infested with cockroaches.
A warrant obtained by WMBF alleged, "The kitchen was infested with bugs, and the refrigerator was blocked by garbage and animal cages."
Trash reportedly covered the bathroom, making it inaccessible.
Additionally, police allegedly located 16 dead animals.
Krystal Pinkowski, who has custody of the children and owns the home, was arrested and booked into the Horry County Jail. Records show she faces multiple charges, including unlawful conduct toward a child, ill treatment of animals, and accumulation of overgrowth vegetation.
