TUCSON, Ariz. (TCD) -- Police arrested three teens last week after following a trail of blood that led to the body of a 17-year-old girl in a pool.
According to court documents cited by KOLD-TV, on Wednesday, March 15, Tucson Police Department officers went to an apartment at East 5th Street and North Country Club Road and saw blood at the doorway. Officers reportedly followed the blood and found 17-year-old Azucena Reina Price deceased with a gunshot wound to the head.
During the investigation, officers arrested 19-year-old Joshua Galen Wood on a charge of evidence tampering, hindering prosecution, concealment of a body, and third-degree burglary. Christopher Bravo, also 19, was booked on charges of evidence tampering, while 16-year-old Juveninto Cervantes-Burke was arrested on a manslaughter charge.
KGUN-TV, which also cites court documents, reports Price was shot and killed inside the apartment and dragged from the unit into a neighbor's pool. Detectives reportedly discovered sheets in another yard that had been burned.
Cervantes-Burke allegedly fired the gun, which was reportedly buried and moved to a car.
KOLD reports Cervantes-Burke was playing with the gun when it fired and struck Price in the head. Wood allegedly wrapped her body in sheets, threw her over a neighboring wall, left her body in the water, and burned the sheets.
Bravo reportedly dug up the gun and told Wood it was "not a good idea to conceal the gun so close to where the body had been concealed," so he allegedly hid the firearm in the floorboard of his car.
