GREENE COUNTY, Pa. (TCD) -- A 44-year-old man was recently sentenced to 3,000 years in prison after being convicted of thousands of counts of child sex crimes.
Greene County District Attorney David Russo announced the sentencing against Matthew Perry on Tuesday, March 28. Perry was found guilty of 13,143 felony counts of sex crimes against children following a four-day trial in November. Those crimes included 2,190 counts of rape of a child under the age of 13.
Perry will be eligible for parole in 3523.
According to the Observer-Reporter, Perry was previously sentenced 40 to 80 years in May 2022 for molesting a girl. He was reportedly arrested in 2017 for abusing the preteen victim multiple times in 2016 and 2017 and has been in jail since.
The Observer-Reporter reports that Perry was charged in October 2020 for abusing a second female victim multiple times in 2008.
The first case reportedly didn’t go to trial for several years because Perry was considered incompetent, but he was sent to a hospital for mental health treatment three separate times until he was deemed competent.
In a statement, Russo said, "I am proud to announce Matthew Perry would have to live for 3,000 years in order to pay his debt to society, and now I would like to get back to fulfilling my promise to the people of cleaning up the corruption in Greene County."
In December 2018, Perry’s wife, Cheyenna Perry, 40, pleaded guilty to videotaping and taking photographs of a girl performing sex acts, and then sending them to her husband, the Observer-Reporter reports. She was sentenced to 3 1/2 to seven years in prison and had to register as a sex offender.
