WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old woman who was in court attending her boyfriend's indictment hearing got arrested in the courtroom on charges relating to her daughter's death.
Kentucky State Police announced Monday, April 17, that a grand jury returned an indictment on Alexandra Ward for complicity murder and complicity strangulation, while her boyfriend, 22-year-old Jordan Taylor, is charged with murder, first-degree sodomy, and strangulation for the death of 3-year-old Amoura.
On Feb. 19, the Kentucky State Police's London post received a call from the Whitley County Sheriff's Office asking for assistance in a death investigation regarding an unresponsive 3-year-old. Whitley County Emergency Medical Services responded to the home and transported Amoura to Baptist Health, where she was pronounced dead. Troopers arrested Taylor at the time for first-degree murder.
According to WKYT-TV, Taylor was in court April 17 for the indictment reading, and after prosecutors announced his charges, they read Ward's indictment. A Whitley County Sheriff's Office deputy then escorted Ward out of the courtroom in handcuffs and took her to the station for her booking.
WKYT reports Sheriff Bill Elliotte said Amoura had "bruises on all areas of the body" that were in "different stages of healing."
