DADEVILLE, Ala. (TCD) -- Law enforcement officials announced the arrests of five people for their alleged involvement in the shooting at a Sweet 16 birthday party that left four teens dead and over 30 people injured.
On Wednesday, April 19, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released a statement saying special agents took 17-year-old Ty Reik McCullough and 16-year-old Travis McCollough into custody and formally charged them with four counts each of reckless murder in connection with the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Philstavious "Phil" Dowdell, 17-year-old Shaunkivia "KeKe" Smith, 19-year-old Marsiah "Siah" Collins, and 23-year-old Corbin Holston.
Several hours after that news release, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced the arrest of 20-year-old Wilson LaMar Hill. He was also charged with four counts of reckless murder.
Sgt. Jeremy Burkett with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a press conference officials arrested the McCullough brothers Tuesday, April 18.
On Thursday, April 20, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency shared that Johnny Letron Brown, 20, was taken into custody and charged with four counts of reckless murder.
A fifth suspect, 19-year-old Willie Brown Jr., was also arrested and charged Thursday.
Burkett urged anyone who was at the party who has not yet spoken with law enforcement to come forward. He said, "Somebody’s got to start thinking about mama. I know I’m tired of it, and everybody behind me is tired of it. We’re tired of going to the mothers and having to tell them that these kids are not coming home."
Fifth Circuit Judicial District Attorney Mike Segrest said at the press conference his office will be charging the McCollough brothers as adults. In addition to the four teen deaths, 32 people were injured in the shooting, and four are in critical condition. The suspects could face additional charges.
