ZAVALLA, Texas (TCD) -- A 27-year-old woman and 23-year-old man were arrested this week for allegedly tattooing her two young children at their home and injuring them while trying to remove the ink.
According to KETK-TV, on April 17, Child Protective Services learned about the alleged tattooing and requested that Angelina County officials go to Gunnar and Megan Farr's home with them. A 5-year-old and 9-year-old were taken into protective custody the next day.
Zavalla Police Lt. James Denby told KETK investigators learned Megan, the children's mother, and Gunnar, their stepfather, were allegedly "forcibly restraining" the kids in order to ink them. Gunnar and Megan Farr allegedly tried removing the tattoos when they learned CPS started to investigate, which caused injuries to the children.
Court documents cited by KTRE-TV allege Megan and Gunnar tried washing and scraping the tattoos off and even tried using lemon juice to get rid of the ink. The couple allegedly tied the kids with rope, taped their mouths, and put a rag over their eyes while giving them the tattoos.
The children's father and stepmother reportedly saw the tattoos and confronted Megan about it, but she allegedly laughed at the allegation. The father then reported it to CPS.
Angelina County Jail records show Megan Farr was booked on two counts of injury to a child with intent to cause bodily injury, while Gunnar faces a charge of assault causing bodily injury.
The children are reportedly still in custody of Child Protective Services.
