Person of interest arrested in connection with death of neurosurgeon found wrapped in blanket in attic

DETROIT (TCD) -- Detroit Police confirmed they took a person of interest into custody in connection with the shooting death of a neurosurgeon found wrapped in a blanket in a crawl space last week.
Detroit Police Chief James White said the person of interest was brought in on unrelated charges and that detectives are still "actively investigating" the case. White believes the victim, Dr. Devon Hoover, knew his killer because the shooting did not appear to be random, nor were there any signs of a break-in.
He said, "Everything we have points to them knowing each other."
Hoover was found dead Sunday, April 23, after family members called Detroit Police to conduct a welfare check at his home on West Boston Boulevard, WJBK-TV reports. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Hoover had been fatally shot in the head several times and that he was put in a blanket and left in a crawl space in the attic.
He worked as a neurosurgeon at Ascension Hospital in Detroit.
WDIV-TV reports Detroit Police are now investigating a break-in that occurred at Hoover’s home sometime between late Saturday, April 29, to early Sunday, April 30.
White encouraged anyone with information about Hoover’s death to come forward and share it with police.
