N.J. woman reported missing on Mother’s Day is found dead near highway

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (TCD) -- Investigators located a missing 32-year-old woman’s body near a highway several days after family members reported her missing.
On Sunday, May 14, Norelis Mendoza’s family contacted the Jersey City Police Department to report she had not been seen since May 13. Jersey City Police began investigating alongside the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police. On Thursday, May 17, investigators found a "lifeless body" on Route 440 near the border between Jersey City and Bayonne.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said the victim, who has been tentatively identified as Mendoza, was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators are considering her death "suspicious." Her cause and manner of death remain pending.
According to NJ.com, Mendoza grew up in Jersey City and has two children under 5 years old.
