'The stuff of a horror movie': Natalia Barnett case examined in new Investigation Discovery docuseries

LOS ANGELES (TCD) -- Imagine adopting a supposed orphan from another country only to find out later that the child living in your home might not actually be the 6-year-old girl you thought she was.
In a new Investigation Discovery series beginning Monday, May 29, "The Curious Case of Natalia Grace" delves into the Barnett family’s life with Natalia and the legal ramifications that followed. Michael and Kristine Barnett adopted Natalia from Ukraine in 2010 and brought her home to Indiana. Life at the Barnett household, however, seemed far from perfect.
At one point in the "Curious Case" trailer, Michael Barnett says, "She tried to poison and kill my wife. One night, I open my eyes and Natalia is standing at the foot of the bed with a knife in her hand."
There are allegations of abuse, neglect, and lies coming from all sides, but Michael Barnett warns, "You might not like the truth."
