LYNCHBURG, Va. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 39-year-old woman this week in connection with the sudden death of a 1-year-old child in 2020.
On Jan. 23, 2020, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the Brookside Apartments to a report of a child found not breathing. According to police, the reporting party, officers, and Lynchburg Fire Department medics attempted lifesaving measures, but "the child passed away."
As a result of the "lengthy investigation," police allege that "reckless disregard for human life contributed to the child's death."
On Wednesday, June 7, police arrested Brandy Parker on charges of felony murder and felony child abuse and neglect. She remains held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
Police did not specify Parker's relationship to the child.
