GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (TCD) -- Deputies arrested a 30-year-old woman this week in connection with the death of a 72-year-old man in early 2018.
According to a news release from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, in January 2018, deputies and West Virginia State Police performed a welfare check at Clarence "Bud" Sheppard’s home after friends became concerned when they had not seen or heard from him for several days. Officials found Sheppard deceased inside the residence.
The West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Sheppard’s death a homicide, though his cause of death was not specified. The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office said detectives interviewed multiple people during the course of the investigation, including Autumn McNeely.
On Wednesday, June 14, officials interviewed McNeely again, and reportedly found evidence that allegedly led to "the implication of Ms. Autumn McNeely’s involvement in the death of Mr. Clarence Sheppard."
Officials arrested McNeely on a charge of first-degree murder, and she was arraigned before a Greenbrier County Magistrate. She remains held in the Southern Regional Jail without bond.
