CLEVELAND (TCD) -- A jury indicted a 30-year-old mother this week in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son.
According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, a grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday, June 28, charging Timmeka Eggleton with one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of endangering children.
On Wednesday, June 14, the Cleveland Division of Emergency Medical Service responded to a store near East 79th Street and Euclid Avenue, where they found Eggleton’s toddler, identified by Cleveland.com as Curtis Witcher, unresponsive in a stroller. The Prosecutor’s Office said first responders transported the child to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Eggleton allegedly lied to Cleveland Police regarding the incident. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner later determined the child died from blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Eggleton will be arraigned at a later date.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said in the statement, "My heart breaks for everyone that loved this boy. As a parent, it is horrific to think that a mother would kill her 3-year-old son."
