Mom turns in 14-year-old son wanted on suspicion of killing New Orleans man

NEW ORLEANS (TCD) -- A 14-year-old boy was arrested after his mother turned him in to police because he was wanted on suspicion of killing an 18-year-old this week.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, on Monday, June 26, at 2:45 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to the 2500 block of St. Claude Avenue regarding a shooting. When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound who later died.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Revell Andrews and said he died from "gunshot wound injuries."
New Orleans Police released a BOLO (be on the lookout) bulletin June 28 saying Homicide Section detectives identified a person and a black Mazda SUV that they believe were involved in the shooting. Police said in the initial statement the man shown in the photo was not wanted on criminal charges but that detectives "feel he has knowledge of information vital to the case."
In a subsequent news release, New Orleans Police announced detectives identified a 14-year-old suspect in the killing and secured an arrest warrant for murder. The teen’s mother turned him in June 28 to the Fifth District Station and he was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
