BEAUMONT, Calif. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 37-year-old woman last week accused of killing a toddler she was babysitting.
On April 26, the Riverside County Coroner's Office notified the Beaumont Police Department about a 15-month-old child who sustained a head injury while under the care of a babysitter, Heather Greenman. Greenman was reportedly watching the child at her home on the 14200 block of Barolo Way.
Greenman reportedly told police at the time the child was running and fell down. The child was transported to a local hospital for head swelling and a brain bleed, where the victim died from the injuries.
Upon further investigation, police identified a second victim, a 2-year-old child, who had "suffered from several serious injuries while in Greenman's care," though that child was never hospitalized.
Greenman reportedly failed to report the injuries, which also reportedly occurred at Greenman's home.
Police arrested Greenman on Thursday, June 29, and booked her into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Riverside County on charges of child abuse and abuse resulting in death.
Police said the Riverside County District Attorney reviewed the case, and a charge of first-degree murder was added. Greenman remains held on $1 million bond.
