OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- Deputies arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of attacking a nurse with a tire iron last week.
On Thursday, July 6, at approximately 3 a.m., Raul Milla Jr. of Fort Walton Beach allegedly "blitz-attacked" a nurse who was on her break at Hospital Corporation of America Fort Walton — Destin Hospital on Mar Walt Drive, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Milla reportedly hit the victim five or six times in the head with a tire iron, but the nurse was able to fight Milla off. The Sheriff’s Office said she suffered critical lacerations and swelling.
The nurse was reportedly able to describe Milla, and deputies found him riding a bike near the scene. The Sheriff’s Office discovered a bloody tire iron in his bicycle basket and noticed a fresh bloodstain on his shirt.
Officials booked Milla into the Okaloosa County Jail on a charge of attempted murder. He remains held on $1 million bond.
