8-year-old Ala. boy accused of armed carjacking and leading police on chase

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (TCD) -- Police arrested an 8-year-old boy after he allegedly stole someone's car at gunpoint, crashed into another vehicle, and led police on a chase.
According to WFSA-TV, on Tuesday, July 11, at around 11 a.m., Montgomery Police responded to a robbery call on the 000 block of West Fairview Avenue and learned the juvenile allegedly committed an armed carjacking. Officers reportedly pursued the stolen car but ended it after the driver refused to pull over.
Montgomery Police said the boy collided with a car near West Fairview Avenue and South Court Street. AL.com reports no one was injured following the wreck.
Authorities apprehended the 8-year-old and reportedly found a weapon. He was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, attempting to elude, and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.
WFSA reports the boy was transported to the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility.
