PORTLAND, Ore. (TCD) -- The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced this week officials have identified a person of interest after determining the deaths of four women found over the span of several months are connected.
In a July 17 statement, the District Attorney’s Office confirmed "there are links" between the deaths of Kristin Smith, Charity Perry, Bridget Webster, and Ashley Real. The Oregon State Medical Examiner said the cause and manner of death for all four victims is still undetermined.
Although officials identified "at least one person of interest that is linked to all four of the decedents," no one has been formally charged yet. KOIN-TV identified the person of interest as 38-year-old Jesse Lee Calhoun.
Smith’s family reported the 22-year-old missing to the Gresham Police Department on Dec. 22, 2022. On Feb. 19, Portland Police went to a wooded area in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood after receiving a call about potential human remains.
About two months later, on April 24, officials from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office found Perry’s body in a culvert. Six days after that, Webster’s body was found near Mill Creek. Both Perry and Webster were reportedly known to spend time in the Portland area.
Then, on May 7, a man fishing in Clackamas County called 911 to report finding remains in a wooded area. Deputies and detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and identified the victim as 22-year-old Real.
KOIN reports Perry was 24 years old and Webster was 31.
Court records show Calhoun has a criminal record, including pleading guilty to two counts of burglary in 2018 and assaulting a public safety officer in 2019.
In the statement, the District Attorney’s Office said no additional information, including the "nature of the information that links these four cases," will be released while the case is an ongoing investigation.
