Ohio bank robber nabbed after falling into recycling bin

HURON, Ohio (TCD) -- One man’s trash is another person’s hideout — until you get caught.
According to the Sandusky Register, on Thursday, July 27, at approximately 2 a.m., Huron Police Department officers responded to the VacationLand Federal Credit Union after receiving a call about an alarm going off. Huron Police Chief Terry Graham told the Sandusky Register officers "could hear noises coming from inside the roof area over the drive-thru."
Graham added, "They also observed a blue recycling trash can positioned in the middle of a drive-thru lane, which was directly under a roof access door."
Body cam footage shared by WTHR-TV shows Huron Police officers in the bank’s drive-thru lane walking toward the recycling bin. In the video, the roof access door opens and a backpack falls to the ground. Then, the suspect swings his legs and lands right in the bin.
Police, however, are standing at the container and arrest the suspect immediately. Upon realizing he is caught, the suspect drops his head.
The Sandusky Register reports the suspect was identified as 27-year-old Tristan Heidl and he was booked into the Erie County Jail on charges of breaking and entering and safecracking.
