PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (TCD) -- A 60-year-old man was arrested last week on suspicion of killing a man who went missing in 2021 and whose remains were found last year.
In a statement, the Pagosa Springs Police Department said investigators from the department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation identified Glen Canyon Lee Hunt as the main suspect in Michael Kroll’s disappearance and death. Police arrested him Friday, Aug. 18, on a charge of second-degree murder.
Kroll was reported missing to the Pagosa Springs Police Department Oct. 21, 2021. He was last seen leaving work on Oct. 16, 2021, and communicated with someone that night via text. Pagosa Springs Police said Kroll, who lived in Joplin, Missouri, was in town prior to his disappearance.
In September 2022, hikers near the Vallecito Reservoir discovered human remains, which were positively identified in January as Kroll’s.
Hunt’s bond was set at $50,000.
