COWETA COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) – "Porch pirate" took on a new meaning when a man was arrested for pilfering an entire "expensive" porch from a neighbor’s home.
Coweta County Sheriff’s Office investigator Chris Stapler told WAGA-TV the porch is a "full-size 8-foot-by-10-foot porch," adding, "It would be what goes onto a house for entry and exit."
Stapler described the porch as "very well constructed" and that the builder used "top-of-the-line lumber" to construct the $3,000 attachment.
According to WAGA, the house had "no trespassing" signs around it and looked like it had been abandoned.
Officials identified Robin Swanger as the suspect and were reportedly searching for him for days. They eventually located him when they received a call about a domestic disturbance with his wife. He was arrested on charges of felony theft and domestic battery.
A Coweta County incident report shows the porch theft occurred Aug. 4, and he was arrested Aug. 13.
"You can’t just take someone else’s property," Stapler said.
