LEBANON, Ind. (TCD) -- A judge sentenced a man to nearly 200 years in prison for killing three people, including a 19-year-old, in 2021.
Indiana court records show Chad Grimball received a maximum sentence of 65 years for each count of murder with the sentences running consecutively. The Boone County judge also handed him one year for carrying a handgun without a license, though he will serve that concurrently with the other sentencing requirements.
A jury found Grimball guilty in August of three murder charges and the handgun charge in connection with the shooting deaths of 42-year-old Larry "Beeker" Stogsdill, 20-year-old Brannon Martin, and 19-year-old Grace Bishop. Martin was Stogsdill’s son and Bishop was Martin’s fiancée. Grimball reportedly shot all three victims in the head due to an ongoing dispute.
According to the Lebanon Reporter, at his sentencing hearing, Grimball told Stogsdill, Martin, and Bishop’s families he was "sorry for y’all’s loss." He reportedly argued that someone else used his gun in the shooting and wore his shoes, which left footprints in the blood.
Boone County Judge Bruce Petit said, "You are an intelligent young man. You’ve destroyed so many lives. You’ve taken three lives. And you’ve ruined yours."
Grimball has reportedly been convicted of multiple violent crimes in his past.
Stogsdill’s dad spoke at the hearing and told Grimball, "You chose to be a thug instead of a father. I hope you don’t have a good life because you don’t deserve one."
He added, "I won’t ever forgive you. I’ll go to my grave with that burden on me, and I’ll have to deal with it when I get upstairs."
