LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- A 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested over the weekend for allegedly "executing a murder plan" by killing a missing woman whose body was later found in the desert.
According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, on Dec. 7 at 3:32 p.m., two people walked into a substation and reported Marayna Rodgers missing. Rodgers was reportedly last seen with friends on Dec. 5, though she had a "prearranged meeting" with Sakari Harnden and Hamden’s boyfriend, Chance Comanche. Rodgers was not seen after that.
Detectives investigating the case reportedly believed from the start that foul play was likely involved in Rodgers' disappearance. Harnden was arrested Dec. 13 on a charge of kidnapping, while Comanche was taken into custody Dec. 15 in Sacramento by the California FBI Criminal Apprehension Team.
Las Vegas Metro Police said detectives gathered information that led them to the desert in Henderson, where they found human remains that were positively identified as belonging to Rodgers.
Police allege Comanche and Harnden killed Rodgers, so they will now be charged with open murder.
Comanche played in the NBA G League for the Stockton Kings, which are affiliated with the Sacramento Kings. In a statement Dec. 15, the Stockton Kings said they released Comanche from their team.
Court records show Harnden is being charged with buying, possessing, or receiving stolen property in addition to open murder and kidnapping, while Comanche faces another charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
