Texas man accused of helping his 17-year-old girlfriend fatally drown herself in pond

FRISCO, Texas (TCD) -- An 18-year-old man stands accused of helping his underage girlfriend take her own life after her body was found at a park late last year.
On Nov. 20, 2023, officers with the Frisco Police Department responded to Frisco Commons Park at 8000 McKinney Road to a report of suspicious activity. At the scene, police found a 17-year-old female deceased in a pond.
According to WFAA-TV, officials believe the victim drowned, and her death was ruled a suicide.
Following a monthslong investigation, police determined the victim's boyfriend, 18-year-old Zander Tashman, allegedly helped his girlfriend kill herself.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Tashman and arrested him on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Tashman was charged with felony aiding suicide. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Tashman's bond was set at $10,000.
