ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, Ark. (TCD) -- Investigators recently identified a deceased woman whose nude body was found on the side of the road this month.
According to the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at around 4 p.m., investigators responded to County Road 731 near Highway 334 after some boys riding four-wheelers in the area found a plastic tote with human remains inside.
St. Francis County Sheriff Bobby Mays told WREG-TV, "The body was partially decomposed. We think the body had been out there maybe a couple of weeks."
Mays added, "Whoever did this had no feeling at all whatsoever for what they had done, no conscience."
The two teens who found the body reportedly posted about the discovery on social media. A person contacted them and said the woman might be his missing mother, but that individual never reported her missing, according to WREG.
On Feb. 26, the sheriff’s office said investigators positively identified the woman as 42-year-old Troy Strope of Forrest City, Arkansas.
The case is being investigated as a homicide.
