ENSENADA, Mexico (TCD) -- Two Australian brothers and their American friend were found dead in a well over the weekend after they had been missing for about a week.
According to a missing persons bulletin, Jake Robinson, 30, Callum Robinson, 33, and Jack Rhoad, 30, were last seen Sunday, April 28, at a surf spot near Ensenada in Baja California. Callum Robinson reportedly did not return to San Diego for work. He is also a type 1 diabetic and his family grew worried because they had not spoken to him since April 27. The family said the lack of communication was "out of character."
The Associated Press reports Baja California State Prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez confirmed Saturday, May 4, that three bodies were found in a well in a remote area near their tents and truck. A fourth body was also reportedly located, but it was not connected to the other men's disappearance and "had been there for a long time."
Investigators reportedly believe the three victims were killed by thieves who tried stealing tires from their truck, according to The Associated Press. Police have arrested three people.
Andrade Ramírez reportedly said the suspects covered the well with boards, making it "literally almost impossible to find it."
The men had reportedly all been fatally shot.
