ALBEMARLE, N.C. (TCD) -- A missing 17-year-old girl’s body was found several days after her boyfriend informed police that she was deceased.
Albemarle Police Chief Jason Bollhorst said in a press conference that on Friday, May 10, Joshua Biles called 911 to report his girlfriend, Baylee Carver, "was deceased and he disposed of the body using a red Honda Civic." Officers immediately responded to a home on Floral Drive, spotted the Civic, and secured the scene.
There was reportedly evidence at the scene that led police to believe Carver was dead.
They contacted the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to process the home and vehicle, which were then turned back over to the owners. Officers later arrested Biles on charges of obstructing justice and concealment of death.
Albemarle Police investigators began searching for Carver’s remains with the help of several law enforcement agencies. They reportedly received information pointing them to specific locations to search, Bollhorst said.
According to WCNC-TV, Carver’s remains were discovered in Cabarrus County on Tuesday, May 14, just before 5 p.m.
Court documents cited by WCNC say there were "obvious wounds to the body indicating an unnatural death."
