MORRILTON, Ark. (TCN) -- An Alabama man wanted on charges of murder, carjacking, and robbery that go back years was apprehended and arrested in Arkansas this week.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on June 18 at 6:30 p.m., Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office deputies received a call about two deceased victims inside a business near State Highway 64. When they arrived, they located an adult male and adult female with "injuries consistent with homicide." The sheriff's office contacted the OSBI for assistance, and they joined the case.
During the course of their investigation, detectives identified 50-year-old Stacy Lee Drake as a person of interest, saying a car he stole in Oklahoma was found in Morrilton, Arkansas.
Arkansas State Police said on June 19 that Drake was seen on surveillance footage outside of a motel in Morrilton and was thought to be armed and dangerous. He is suspected of killing three people and carjacking two. However, he has warrants out for his arrest from several jurisdictions for murder, carjacking, and aggravated robbery.
In an update, Arkansas State Police shared that Drake bought camping gear and was still believed to be in Morrilton.
On Thursday, June 20, Arkansas State Police, Morrilton Police, and the Conway County Sheriff's Office located Drake in a wooded area and took him into custody without incident.
According to KARK-TV, Drake has a prior criminal history in multiple states. He allegedly broke into a home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, tied up the residents, and stole their money and car. He has reportedly been convicted of aggravated assault and battery in Arizona, and has a warrant out for his arrest on charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Drake was booked into the Conway County Detention Center.
