BIBB COUNTY, Ala. (TCN) -- A 32-year-old man was charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting his wife and four young children, two of whom were his own.
According to AL.com, on Thursday, July 18, at 8:18 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a child shot on Greentree Drive. When deputies arrived, they found four young children and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. Three kids were reportedly declared deceased at the scene, while the fourth child and the woman were helicoptered to a hospital in Birmingham, where they died from their injuries.
Deputies arrested the suspect, Brandon Kendrick II, at the scene. He was booked into the Bibb County Jail on four counts of capital murder of a child under 14 years of age and one count of capital murder in the killings of two or more people in one act.
Two of the four juvenile victims were his children, and the other two were reportedly his niece and nephew.
WBMA-TV reports the children were all younger than 8 years old.
According to The Associated Press, the five victims all sustained gunshot wounds to the head.
Kendrick’s parents were reportedly in the residence when the shooting occurred, but they were not injured.
Sheriff Jody Wade told AL.com, "He hasn’t told us anything as far as a motive, and I don’t know what motive he could give us that would justify what he did anyway."
